Can somebody help me ID this coconut palm?

I planted this from a sprouted coconut a few years ago.  The leaf stalks look more yellow than my Malayan coconuts and other small sprouted coconuts.  Can anybody tell me what this palm is?

Bill,

It sure would help to know what the parent palm was.  Did you sprout the nut or acquire it after it was sprouted?  Do you have any idea how old it is?  From its growth habit, it looks like a Green Malayan.  The petiole isn't golden enough to be a Golden Malayan Dwarf, and the petiole isn't yellow enough to be a Yellow Malayan Dwarf.  It would help if you could take some close up photos of the petioles where they emerge from the trunk.

I grew it from a seed that I found floating in a canal so I have no idea what the parent tree was.  This July it will be 3 years old.  Part of that time it spent in a pot in Dallas so I suspect that slowed its growth a bit.   It has grown quite a bit since I planted it at its now permanent residence in SW Florida about 1.5 years ago.  Does this photo yield any clues?

Hey Bill,

Yes, that photo helps, and I still think it is a Green Malayan, or maybe a hybrid cross between a Green Malayan and a Jamaican Tall, Panama Tall, or Maypan.  Only time will tell for sure.  You are right, though, that it being in Dallas for a while has slowed its growth, but I am sure it will really take off now.

Bbates-

It looks like it has Tall in it, but it could be a hybrid of two, maybe 3 different varieties. What part of the Cape are you in? I am in the SE, I could try and help you ID in person if you want.

Thanks much!  I'm in NW, not far from Burnt Store and Pine Island Rd.  If you're ever headed this way please give me a holler!
