I saw the palm today and I'm not very hopeful. I'm still going to give it some TLC and hope for the best

Any updates on the Alfredii, Josh?

thanks for asking.

It's only down to 1 spear. I quickly cut off all the branches to prevent the plant from expelling to much energy.

that trick WORKED. its pushed 2 inches and it keeps moving. still not out of the woods yet

If It can open that spear even prematurely I think it will recover.

Hi Mehdi,

I think its gonna make it.It has pushed up over 15 inches of new growth and has a second spear now starting to emerge. I believe since I had to cut sooooo many roots on the initial did it is still just trying to make new roots to recover. The palm still looks VERY  ugly and only has the main spear with no new leaves yet. As soon as it opens up I'll post some updated pics for you.

cheers,

Josh-O

the fact that it has an intact spear that is pushing pretty much convinces me that it will make it.  Give it a couple growing seasons and it will get the crown back.

Just checked this thread again after a while, I was afraid this thing was a goner. Glad to see it has demonstrated some nice growth. Recovery is still sure to take a while but post more pics as it goes please.

Corpus Christi, TX, near salt water, zone 9b/10a! Except when it isn't and everything gets nuked.

saw it today. it is growing quite nicely. a tree trimmer broke one of the new fronds so its back down to a frond and a spear. by summer it should be back to normal I hope

I recently transplanted a 12 foot specimen and hope it makes it also. Moved to a new house and wanted to take it. Starting to stress a bit but soaking and plan on cutting two fronds to help with transpiration. Crossing fingers... Lateral roots system which was perplexing when removed. Have more growing but this one was a beauty. Putting root simulator once every two weeks.

Welcome to Palm Talk and keep us posted on how it all turns out. I totally get people not wanting to leave these beauties for the new owner =)

@Equistarwelcome!

And what @OC2Texaspalmlvr said.

But be warned alas they don’t seem to move well.

But prove me wrong and if you don’t get a new one and it’ll grow boo-yeah bay bay!
