I guess a half a palm is better than none

Our power sparked and exploded all along our back wires ystdy morning. The Power Company (FPL) decided to do a hack job along the back even though they admitted the problem was their own faulty equipment. At least I view the half Livistona mariae that's still there!

You're absolutely right, Bob, but after the 2004 Hurricanes bent those power poles so that now they are leaning way over on my property. About 4 feet or so my way from where the easement is. If they straightened them back up, it wouldn't be a problem. But now couple leaves do barely connect with the wires sometimes when it was windy. You actually can't tell from the photo but the poles have quite a lean to them.

I hope FPL have a multi attribute query database so that all their contractors know not to remove this palm entirely...ie has it been GPS'd ? and lodged with the boss ?

Ouch!

With time, the palms will rise above, and contact won't be a problem, unless the poles blow over.

Maybe there's a way to get them to straighten them out? That might not solve the problem forever, but would be better than salaaming power poles.

I would expect resistance; if enough people complain, power company may do like mine did and fix the problem, or hire someone to do it. (though my problem was very different)

That is a burn mark from yrs ago. That pole was also hit by lightning a few yrs ago. It had a big burn mark down the side and I kept finding chunks of wood way over near the house. Finally figured out where they came from. Not much hope of FPL straightening mine out, It involves an entire row of poles that are leaning over. They would have to straighten or replace all of them.
