Here is a picture of the new leaf of a Calyptrocalyx forbesii, grows happily in my climate so it must be a cold hardy Calyptrocalyx, the leaf looks quite spiritual with the its hands together above its head  :)

Nice palm Colin.  Is there an ugly Calyptrocalyx anywhere?

Colin,

This is a real nice species. I just picked up 3 plants a month ago and look forward to growing them up. This was one species I was lacking. Thanks for showing us.

Why dream Zac, admittedly your not going to put one in the ground there, but most Calytrocalyx seem ideally suited to pot culture and living as houseplants.  I plan to add many of the genus to my collection.

For those who missed the punchline....

Heres the full description ...stolen from the PACSOA website:

Calyptrocalyx forbesii

Distribution & Habitat:

New Guinea Rainforest

Description:

A small, attractive understory palm, with pinnate leaves, and evenly spaced leaflets. The new leaf can be quite red.

Culture:

Prefers a warm, sheltered and moist position, but it is one of the more cold tolerant of the Calytrocalyx.
