Wow Ben, a Lot of exposed roots with no soil :o I spent nearly the whole day swimming  in the dam as it was near 38c.

I would have cut in in half , if it survives after laying it in the sun with those exposed roots its an "Unkillable Palm " :)

Best of luck with it, is there a hose on it all night tonight and tomorrow ??

Pete

It was dug out 2 days ago and has been soaking in seaweed solution up until today's transport and planting, Sounds like your not confident Pete but I look forward to hopefully proving you wrong. Re the heat..... I don't have the luxury of choosing when I do these things..... work and family dictate my small amount of gardening time

Cut the leaves in half. It will help immensely. Water is only taken up by the root tips, they are gone, the palm will keep transpiring water through the leaves unless you reduce the leaf surface considerably. Should do fine

So far so good, we have new leaves opening and it didn't loose much condition at all. I think it's safe to say this was a very successful transplant!! I have moved 4 decent sized palms now with only a 3 metre Dypsis orange crush looking very sad..... the others have hardly skipped a beat
