Anyones Sabal minors grown from seed ever seed? If so, how many years did it take for it to start seeding? And how small was it when it seeded? I'll see huge Sabal minor seeding and ones that just look like a few fronds sticking out of the dirt seeding and I can never really tell how old they are.

It is exposed to the fullest sun it can be and gets regularly watered without much competition from native plants. This plant had sproutrd from seed naturallly, where it grew afrewards to adulthood. Seed was from a nerby growing another minor which after fruition got lethally poisoned by herbicides. Now think over it again; from the hundreds of near around dispersed seeds, few  germinated naturally and one of the few sprouted at the base of another dying Sabal mexicana (also from toxicity through herbicides), which was getting regularly well watered.  Ideal timing I must say. Well, did you all imply some hybrid vigor?

This is an old thread that I just recently found, has anyone's Sabal minor seeded recently? Do they seed every year?

Yes, they flower and seed every year. In North Carolina, they flower in the late spring and the fruit should be ripening about now.

I have several I grew from seed - took 5-6 years for them to flower. They flower every spring, seeds ripen around Nov. S. minor are quicker to mature than other Sabals. The huge Sabals (causiarum, domingensis, maritima) I germinated from seeds in 2008 are trunking and have flowered the past several years. We cut down flowers to prevent volunteers. S. palmetto germinated at the same time are much smaller and have yet to flower.

S. minor pictured in older post seeded for two years in row. Another S. minor in my garden seeded for the first time with three seed stalks. This one take nine years to flower from seed stage.
