Variation in Temps- Location , Location , Location ( again ) Florida

Watching the Local TV news this AM , and they all were showing the Daytona Temperature at 47 deg , while at my home it was 60.7 .

So , here are some  ( a bit later ) shots of PWS's in Daytona , Orlando , Gainesville via Weather Underground .  I know we've talked about this before , many times .

This is a classic condition , when the winds are beginning to shift to onshore , during the 2nd day or so of a Cold front , and of course would be different with a NW wind flow etc .

Our official reporting station does not represent the majority of town very well .  In this day and age , it ought to beep possible to present an average Temp. to represent an area .

Single point readings can't do it justice .

I commented in the other thread that our variation around the Tampa Bay area was lower than average. Here's a screenshot I took last night:

1209.jpg

At the time it was 56f in my 9b location while it was just 58 in Tierra Verde (10b). This was very unusual, normally you'll see 10f differences around the area on a radiational cooling night. My low temp winded up at 48.6f, a whole lot better than the 35f they were predicting just a week ago.

I was checking around the state last night and Daytona was actually pretty warm. I think the NE wind must have really been moderating the temperature up there.

I had a low of 54 last night, and was a beautiful day to fertilize.

Lived in Cape Coral, Miami, Orlando and St. Petersburg Florida.
