I'm posting this here because my question has mostly to do with the species of oak and not its pot culture.   This summer I purchased 3 new chamaedorea cataractum palms.  2 are reasonably large, in beautiful shape, in approximately 3 gallon containers.  They are loaded with beautiful deep green leaves and have about 8-10 each new spears and several that are currently opening .  One is smaller and in rough shape,  in a 1 gallon container which I decided to rescue from a local grocery store at the very discounted price of 5 bucks.  It's since opened two new fronds. It has about 3 larger mature trunks and lots of sammler immature ones.   I have not had these before because I always liked non clumping, trunking palms. That was until several trips to southern Florida back in 2009/10.  That's when I saw them and many others all over and fell in love with them as well.

Anyway my question is very simple, and probably pretty dumb.   What are these growths?  Are they I inflorescence growing? Or, are they simply new stalks?   Being new to having these beautiful palms I am not that familiar with them.   They look more like inflorescence spikes to me but again I don't know.   The two larger palms have about 8-10 of these. The smaller one has two.  Below are two pics. The first is of one of the large ones on my balcony. The second one is close up of a voile of the new growths.      Thanks for any And all help!

Land O Lakes FL, a suburb on the North Side of Tampa, FL

Summers are great, 90f/32c in the day & 70f/21c at night with plentiful rain & sun

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

I am a Kayaker, Hiker, Bicyclist, and amateur Photographer that loves the outdoors.

You need a male & female to produce seed.

Yeah.  I was about to ask if it was common for male and female plants to be in the same pot in those big nursery produced ones. I would imagine there are since they usually use lots of seeds in one pot to get these very full looking plants.
