Potting up my Howea forsteriana ( Kentia)

Mohsen

Recommended Posts

Jut received my Howea forsteriana yesterday ... it was in a plastic pot ( 40cmX 32cm = 40 Litre) , I bought a wooden ( half barrel) pot ( 55cmX38cm = 90 Litre) :

As Pal suggestion, I used the mixture of "Plus Premium Potting Mix" 2 part, " Garden soil" 1 Part and "Seramis" 1 part ...I used Leca at the bottom of the pot to improve and maintain the drainage ...

It was very difficult to bring it out of old pot...it should have been there for long time...

It took me 3 hours but the results was good  ...I hope it like its new home :)

It depends on growth of new leaves, of new roots (transplantation shock?), and on your weather (sun? temps?). And at first I wouldn’t add any fert. Watch your palm, and don’t behave like a mechanical watering machine! ;)

Looks great in the new pot, Mohsen. I have about 15 of these in a similar plastic pot (from grower), and would love to pot them all up just like you've done. Unfortunately, I'd prefer to sell them,...
