I threw a few cycad seeds on the ground about 6 months ago, and they have sprouted. So I will pot them, grow them up a bit and give them away. But I was just wanting to know if they need a  deep pot or anything else special. They look like they are putting down a fairly deep strong root.

You will need a deep pot for those seeds otherwise the roots will come out of the bottom. Haven't done L. peroffskyana but have germinated L. hopei and assume they'd be similar. Also, be careful with exposing those roots like that. They're very tender and can be killed off easily.

Ok, thanks. Yes I had them back in potting mix real quick. Also I was very surprised to see what looked like lateral roots going upwards off the main root not out or down, you can see them in the picture.

I never noticed that with my L. hopei. I wonder whether they're the beginnings of coralloid roots that harbour cyanobacteria and provide nitrogen to the plant.

also I have the below germinated after 10-11 months...

should I separate them now, I think there are 5 in this pot and what is the depth of your pot ?

do you keep them under full sun ? even my big one  above picture) in on deck and only get sun through the roof of the deck and only in the morning !
