I graduated college today (again), with a degree in engineering, hopefully will find a job someplace warm. Wish me luck!

Well, I would take a job on the moon if someone would give me one there.  But it isn't very warm there and there aren't any jobs there anyway.  Providing for my family is #1 so I'm willing to go anywhere.  I've probably sent more applications to Texas (Houston and south) than anywhere as it is warm there and since my degree is in petroleum engineering it would be a good place to be.  The problem is that there aren't any jobs in petroleum engineering right now, especially entry level.  So I'm willing to look at jobs in other engineering disciplines if they are willing to look at me.  So anyway the short answer to your question is that I'm pretty open on where to go

Perfect answer! Back when I graduated I mostly applied for jobs in Chicago and New York despite not really liking either city too much, it is just where most jobs are in my field. $$$ is priority number one in my book so I really like to see that attitude.  Petroleum engineering at least used to be the highest paid bachelors degree you could get and it wasn't even close, but I really feel for you right now since the industry fell apart over the past year with low oil prices. You're really getting a bad deal here, if you can't find something I'd consider doing a masters (unless that is what you just did?) and wait this out because it can't be this way too long. I'm sure Houston is by far your best bet in the US right now, but I'd seriously consider somewhere like UAE or Qatar if the money is right.
