Tools for Studying Soil - Global Reference

Hello:

I would like to use this space to bookmark websites that are useful for identifying and studying regional soil types for experimentation with new seedlings in pots.

For me it is as easy as finding the palm distribution (thankfully Palmpedia has many listed very specifically) and then finding an appropriate scientific source (usually a govt agency of the country) to pinpoint the type of soil in that area.

Today I am potting up:

Livistona drudei

Habitat: Kurrimine to Townsville QLA, dry side of coastal mangroves, near streams and plains. source

Soil types: Dermosol / Sodosol / Hydrosol Queensland soil map
