I still want to try one. I have a spot against a wall. I have a plumeria there now and it holds its leaves all year with no burn. It might have a chance there. High heat area.

plumeria fair way better than latania here in ca.

But....always worth a try.

maybe if you find a good sized one it might do well.

my 5 gals were 5 yrs old :(

they are so dam slow and they need to be in all day sun. mine were under some canopy and only got 1/4 day sun.

wish I could do a do over. if they get set back from frost damage it takes YRS to even look decent.

the cool thing about this palm is they keep their color for a very long time since they grow so slow

I'm in a pretty cold microclimate with frost many times every winter.  I have a Red Latan that has been in the ground and growing for I think 4-5 years now.  It's slow, and definitely went backwards for the first couple years, but it's growing well now and looks nice even in winter.  It is just above a south facing retaining wall, so may be benefiting from some extra soil warmth.  I'll try to post a photo...

Needless to say I can't have them in the ground here in Nebraska but I have a Blue and now a Yellow Latania and they do very well indoors and have been moderate to fast growers, especially the yellow.  Finally decided to place a order with Jeff Marcus just to get a couple of Red ones from him as well as a variety of other palms to fill the minimum order lol. Of course Jeff called me and order increased. He's quite the salesman!
