Sabal palmetto Lisa seeds for sale

You know you want them. Finally, I have them: seeds of the fabulous, rare and spectacular mutant Sabal palmetto Lisa. In November my husband and I trekked over to the Ft. Myers palm park with a tarp and long poles to harvest ripe seeds. I spent many hours hand cleaning them and days drying them. They are ready for their close-up. Sabal Lisa was described in 2006 and named for the discoverer's wife. Only a handful of this mutant palm have been found in S. FL. Seeds for sale are from the smaller of two Lisas that used to be on opposite sides of an I75 exit and now are safely planted in Ft. Myers. The larger palm is now too tall to access and the smaller one will be also in a year or two. I am posting a photo of the mother palm, which has held on to its boots for the length of its trunk. Not all of these seeds will become Lisas. I have been told 20% is the norm. But when I first collected seeds in 2008 I had 60% turn out to be Lisas. However, that was 7 years ago and I make no promises or guarantees. Also, keep in mind that it may take up to 5 years (in FL) for Lisa traits to reliably show. If you live in a colder area you may have to wait longer so be patient.

Photo 1 is a sample of the seeds, Photo 2 is of the mother palm. Next few photos are of my second largest Sabal Lisa on my garden lot showing its stiff, pleated leaves. Last photo is of my smallest Sabal Lisa, which is about 4-5 years old and still strap leaf. If you look closely you will see its leaves are deeply convex and look like they might roll into tubes. That convex cupping is a dead giveaway.

I don't know when or if I will be able to obtain seeds from this palm again so don't let this opportunity to grow this very rare mutant Sabal escape you. I will combine shipping if you buy other seeds.

50 seeds for $15.00

100 seeds for $25.00

Shipping in padded envelope: $3.00 in the U.S. (Except HI which specifically prohibits importation of Sabal seeds)

NOTE: I will ship up to 100 seeds to other countries for $10.00 shipping but am not responsible if your customs seizes them. I must declare contents of envelopes on a US Gov't website and cannot lie.

Payment via Paypal

These may have been sold out. Gotta sit on these palms for several years before the true Lisa anomoly reveals itself.

I'll ship them off to Triode so he could unlock the secret. Gotta make room in the greenhouse for community germinating crate. Bottom heating pad should get these popping in no time.

Hey Meg,

rtfink is my buddy from Crawfordville below Tallahassee. He buys and grows a lot of palms from seed. Finally got him to start going on PT after years of bugging him.  I will let him know you already responded .... he is having problems with the website on his computer not letting him post or send PM's .. his email should be good.

Thanks for the info. I usually give cost data via PM so the whole world isn't looking on. I particularly don't want to reveal my Paypal address unless a buyer is serious. Once I know how many he wants I'll e-mail him a quote.

Hey Meg- Would you sell a young plant?-Peter

The weight of lies will bring you down / And follow you to every town / Cause nothin happens here

That doesn't happen there / So when you run make sure you run / To something and not away from

Cause lies don't need an aero plane / To chase you anywhere

I don't have any. They take years to reveal themselves so I backed off germinating them, at least for now.
