Rare Palm Collection for Sale - San Diego , CA

Recommended Posts

I am adding this post for a friend that recently passed away.  He collected a lot of rare palms and cycads too numerous to list here. His best friend inherited the collection.  The friend is currently experiencing some economic hardships.  He now has this fairly large collection of some 100 palms and cycads however he does not have any idea as to the ID of the palms/cycads or what they're worth.  I've seen it happen where someone who is unfamiliar the ID's of a newly inherited collection gets ripped off by collectors who swarm in.  So I'm posting this here with the hopes that someone who purchases collections might be interested in taking a look at this collection and offering this gentleman a fair price.  I understand of course that anyone buying the collection would need to have a profit margin for themselves to make any purchase worthwhile. However my main concern is that the gentleman, who inherited the collection, does not get ripped off since he is currently experiencing some economic hardships.  This collection is located in San Diego, CA.  If you are interested by please contact me at icebluecycads@yahoo.com and I will put you in touch with the person who has inherited the collection.

Thanks,

Joel

Phil Bergman at Jungle Music always offers very fair purchase prices from what I have found. I would ask him too.

I second Kevin Weaver as well.

Just a thought...

Perhaps sell on consignment or offer a percentage split to a retailer/wholesaler who moves the collection piece by piece.  Everyone wins and no one is taken advantage of.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas.  Thanks for the emails as well.  I'm in contact with a couple of people who are interested and I think will provide fair offers. The collection is more common/rare (hyophorbes, pritchardias, a few dypsis, jubaea, roystoneas, chamaedoras, chambeyronia, trachycharpus, brahea, chamaerops) than super rare if that makes sense. The cycads are big but definitely not rare.
