If he ever gets elected as president he will have to downgrade to Airforce One and the White House ;-)

That looks pretty impressive, but compared to many other executive jets, I’m guessing this 757 is rather pedestrian. Furthermore, it’s a 24 year old Boeing 757 – not exactly right off the production line. It began life for Sterling Airways of Denmark in 1991, flying Scandinavian tourists to the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. When Sterling collapsed some two years later it was repossessed by a bank and briefly leased to TAESA of Mexico. Vulcan Inc. of Seattle acquired it in early 1995 and had it converted to an executive configuration. Vulcan Inc. was founded in 1987 by Paul Allen of Microsoft fame, and Vulcan operated it until August 2010 when it was sold to DJT Operations I LLC (a Trump holding company). It entered “service” for Trump on June 3rd, 2011, from New York La Guardia to Washington Dulles, so this "news" is actually more than four years old. When Trump acquired this 757, he got rid of his old 727-100 (built in 1968).

And the way the plane is painted says something about Trump’s personality (not exactly news), or rather the way the name “Trump” is plastered in large letters on both sides of the fuselage. There are close to 20,000 executive jets in the world, most of them smaller Citations, Learjets, Gulfstreams, etc. and VERY few have the name of the owner painted on them. People, and companies, owning and operating executive jets typically prefer to be low-key – for a variety of reasons.

It should also be mentioned that even though the interior certainly looks impressive to all of us who have no choice but to fly economy (and maybe once in a while get lucky with an upgrade) there are executive jets that will put this 757 to shame in a big way. There are currently eight Boeing 747-8s, delivered brand new in 2011 and 2012, all owned by governments or individuals in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, and these aircraft have been outfitted with the most lavish VIP configurations possible. These modifications, done immediately after delivery, take up to 18 months to complete.

Finally, about Air Force One. Contrary to popular belief Air Force One is not an aircraft – it’s a Radio Call Sign used by whatever USAF aircraft the President happens to travel on. It so happens that the President almost always travels on a 747 that we are so used to seeing on the news. But in fact, there are two of them – USAF serial numbers 82-8000 and 92-9000 (painted as 28000 and 29000 on the planes). They are identical and whichever 747 the President is on, that’s the one that’s using call sign Air Force One. The other one typically comes along, as a back-up. By commercial aviation standards these two 747-200Bs are beyond ancient. They were built in 1987 and no other airline that any of us would be inclined to fly operates 747-200Bs any more. Or how about, Iran Air or Kabo Air of Nigeria!? And there are only eight passenger carrying 747-200Bs left in the world. In all likelihood the USAF will place an order with Boeing soon for two brand new 747-8s which would replace the current relics. Their requirement is for a four engined jet and the only other choice would be the Airbus A380. Which they are NOT going to order... :mrlooney:

I have flown in both the 747 and the Airbus 380 when I went to China. Both huge aircraft but when you are in coach you have the same room as if you were in a 737! But I loved being in both aircraft, and that 380 is so huge, I was on the second level, I remember we had an escort on both wing tips on the 380 on the taxiway.

And yes it would be a bad message if the US bought a non US made aircraft for Airforce One.

Lock this thread.

Dave...lock this thread? Are you serious? The discussion is about an airplane that belongs to an individual and because your a liberal democrat, and Trump has the opposite beliefs that you do, you want the topic locked. Boy, that sounds fair. Well maybe now it will be locked, which is what you wanted in the first place. So we all have you to thank for that.
