First time in many years tropical rain are hitting California .

The low is forecast to pass over San Luis obispo county.

SoCal and central cal got some rain yesterday and today. The Bay Area and North San Joaquin could get thunder today and tomorrow .

For those scratching their head, Ca doesn't generally see rain from May to October and rain in July is almost unheard of.

Closely following the storms over the central Coast atm. Last WX report out of Oxnard reports totals of between .80 and 2.00" of rainfall over San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles since midnight. That follows the record rainfall over L.A. and San Diego yesterday.

Agree with Jeff on the rarity of rain anytime during the summer back in CA. Remember a few years where you might get a sprinkle or two.. and the one day in September (1990?) San Jose saw a classic "Monsoon-type" nighttime electrical storm.

Thinking this is at least the second? Monsoonal/tropical surge type event there in CA this year..

Live webcam footage out of Morgan Hill looks more like what you'd see the morning after a good storm in Phoenix!

I read a statistic. San Diego got 1.7" of rain from this storm. We've had 1.68" of rain in July the last 101 years combined. Think about that.
