Bismarckia growth issues

Icy Palm

Recommended Posts

My Bismarkia in pot stood in old water for a long time. All leaves turned brown and died. There was still a spear which was green. This has now developed in spring time but looks like 'stuck'. There is no room for a new spear and no new spear in sight.

Will this get better or is the palm going to stop developing? It looks like the leaves are getting longer but not sure! Hope someone can share experience or advice. Thanks!

Is the new leaf growing? If not, there is a root problem going on and these are hard to fix in Bismarckia

Hi Kostas, the leaf is growing but slow. It looks like the leaves have no way out. Should the stem grow longer after the leaf is trying to open now? I am also scared seeing no new spear. Does this mean problems?

If at all worried I would pour peroxide down the growth point just in case there is fungis forming. Bizmarckia love heat and it's hard to give thin too much. They like to have moist soil but not too much since it's really a desert palm. I hope it starts growing well for you.

Not a good palm to sit in water. Don't mess with the roots at all. Full blazing sun...great drainage...water once a week.Good luck.
