Great Bamboo garden visit

Recommended Posts

I haven't posted here for a while, apologies to my fans, how are you Errol ?

Today I took another visit to one of my fav places, Bamboo Land, it's a nursery, it's a garden, it's bamboo of many wonderful species, they have lots of heliconias and gingers and the like as well, but I went for the Boo, as Bamboo fans like to call it. One of the best places I know of to see bamboo. Here's a selection of photos. I took over a hundred photos as it turns out, I haven't been out for a while.

Some more

Guadua augustifolia is a loose clumper, I love it, no room for it but wish I did.

Ghost bamboo on the left, Chungii on the right, two of the best, nice tight clumpers and that dusty blue is outstanding.

Close up of another chungii, people can't help themselves and finger mark the stems.

Great thread Wal, :greenthumb: Ive tried Guadua angustafolia a few times but they didnt "progress" @ all, they where "tiny" so will have to get some large rhizomes next time. :)

Boo, is "great" eh , not just for its looks , but windbreaks, birds to nest , shade, etc, etc and the endless supply of "free mulch" which Ive been collecting over the past few weeks which is a good 8 mnths old since it fell so its moist n broken down.

Great tour looks like a cool nursery/garden.

I got a big chunk of Guadua angustifolia last year from a guy down the road. It put up two new shoots over the summer but they were only about as thick as a broom handle. Today I noticed a new shoot popping up and it looks like it will be at least twice as thick. Based on your pic it looks like it still has a long way to go.
