Alas, a shock but no surprise.

Saw him live in a BYOB affair in Warrensville Heights in the early 1980s.

It was astounding to watch this then-"old" guy (he was a bit older than my dad) out rock-star many rock stars. A year or two later, he did when Love Comes to Town with U-2.

I regret that I never was able to attend one of his performances.

I was fortunate to see him back when he was a spry 72. Three hour show, you could tell he loved what he did. Amazing that he lived so long with diabetes.
