How's that for a kick in the keester? From the nice warm womb BOOM right onto the dusty dirty ground.

I assume he got up and walked around in the next frame . . . .

I didn't stick around for very long as Nora was snorting and stamping her feet she wasn't impressed that the Borzoi wanted to say hello. I did give Gus the new Dad a scratch behind his ear he was happy to be nose to nose with a pair of dogs.

Found on the sidewalk yesterday La Brea/64th; I couldn't find a nest to return her, so it's feeding time every 30 minutes. I gotta get some bugs in her belly as well

Palmazon I know just how demanding it is to fill the needs of rescued animals. I have friends that run a non for profit rescue centre and I have taken on 3 young possums that where taken there for initial treatment. Unfortunately all three possums will never be able to be released back into the wild as they where all to young when their mothers where killed by cats.

I'm somewhat conflicted, however, teaming up with this creature in its existential struggle - what if its behavior should cause it to be plucked from the stream of life?

Hey, I have two lives, mine and the alien that is inside of me. We've come to an agreement on our eventual separation, we won't.

Pip, lucky you to see the newborn, what a lift for your day!

Palmazon, the first rescued h-bird made it back out into the sky on its own? These seem such fragile creatures. I found one sitting on my porch railing not long ago, and he did not fly away as he ought to have when I approached. After a long delay, he did. Later I found his lifeless jeweled body on the porch. :bummed:

Today I came home to find an unusual number of feathers in my tiny fountain, and a disembodied bird beak lying in the grass. Some kind of seed eater. I know this to be the work of those devil crows. I love the fountain for the birds it attracts, including the hummers, but so does the big black crow...

Every year I get one or two baby lorikeets in the garden and have to hand raise them. Most eventually just fly off after a few months but those who have difficulty flying I find pet homes for. My Jasper was one who could fly but wouldnt leave and has been my affectionate pet for 7 years now. I have also raised some kangaroo and wallaby joeys, only got hardcopy photos sorry. Only ever fostered two possums, a brushtail and a sugar glider, the latter didnt make it sadly, and I havent had any marsupials since. I find frog spawn in puddles and drains or friends in the frog society phone me to come and get spawn they found and I raise the tadpoles in my backyard pools. Never seen a hummingbird, we dont have them here or I would probably have a house full

This is Sarah our latest possum rescue. She is a Ringtail possum the species is endangered so every individual is important. Ringtail possums don't invade the roof space of houses unlike the Brushtails that have even become a pest in New Zealand.

Yes they do stay cute. My favorite possum is the squirrel glider it is like a tiny version of a sugar glider. They use a flap of skin to glide through the air from branch to branch. Of course these creatures are nocturnal so make horrible pets as they sleep when your awake and awake when your not

Chameleons are awesome only hazzard with them is not to move your eye when feeding or else you'll find that their tongue has suction cupped to your eye ball.

Pip the ringtails make excellent pets so Sarah could be with you for a long time. I had a friend in Melbourne and hers used to hang from her wrist by the tail, like a handbag so he went everywhere with her. Is your washing line full of 'pouches' ? I sewed straps on them and wore them around my neck for the joeys, so they were always with me.

The Ringtails will be with us for along time. We have Bill and Ben the flower pot possums (found in a flower pot after their mother was killed by a cat). Our washing line is full of pouches. Sarah is still has a wound on her neck it has nearly healed also she is still to small to move to an aviary so will be in the house for a few months yet. I unfortunately am reacting to the dander from the possum. I'm sneezing and have watery eyes when ever I get close.

Saw this the other day thought it was cool. What I assumed was a mother and baby tree frog hanging out in the leaf of leucothrinax morrissii.

Actually I think the small one is a male, the females are usually twice the size, so they are probably mating. No oedipal jokes please.
