Looking for a decent size benticks. Preferably one that has seen some sun. I'm about 5 miles from the ocean in chula vista. Please let me know if you have something and what you're asking. Thanks.

Gustavo.. Good luck on your quest. I'm pretty sure nobody in California has this growing in FULL hot baking all day sun that looks even half decent for sale. They seem to be happier in part day or filtered sun.

Or even one that's in filtered or shaded. Just a little bigger than the typical 3 leaves. Haha

Josh, they're not for sale, but I have two growing in full hot baking all day sun in 5g pots and they love it. There is also some significant additional radiated heat from the fence. The longer leaves are Hawaiian grown and are now a bit tattered, mostly due to folding during original shipment and wind. The new leaf is facing full sun. The trunk diameter has doubled in the last 4 months.

I'm pretty confident that these take more sun than a Chambeyronia over here, as long as they are well watered.

^ this is not to say that I'll leave them in full blazing sun in mid-summer :) , but so far they handle sun pretty well.

wow, Pando.. sounds like these guys want more sun than I previously thought. It would be an interesting experiment to leave it in the spot for the duration of the summer?? sounds like the making of a new thread in the main forum?? :)

The thing is, they are just coming out of a funk from repotting and winter. This one in the picture is getting FAT fast, but the other one I have is slower, and it was in the shade much longer.

My main concern is the pot getting too hot and overheating the soil. I'll probably move it where at least the pot is somewhat shaded.
