Lost and Found in Miami ?

Darold Petty

Recommended Posts

I bring palm seeds home from my overseas vacations with an Aphis 587 permit. Last November 25th I surrendered for inspection 3 packages of palm seed. The approved seeds arrived at my home a week later. However, the package included a fourth package of palm seeds that I did not collect or submit to the Miami Ag inspectors.

It would be an extremely remote chance that these seeds belong to a fellow Palmtalker! However, If you can tell me the species and approximate number of seeds I will promptly mail them to you.

Please, Don't tell me the package was your fresh Lodoicea seeds ! :mrlooney:

OK,.. after a week and 140 views, I am keeping the seeds. The devil (aka Ken) made me do it !

The package was labeled "Chamaedorea sp. 'Monteflor'. Can anyone offer information about this cultivar? Thanks !

Darold, I would be interested in buying a few when they get to a shipable size.

Oh, those parajubea cocoides seeds you gave me last year are sprouting :)

Hi Josh,  glad to hear that the P. cocoides are germinating!  The mystery Chamaedorea packet only contained ten seeds, and just one has sprouted so far.

Here is a photo taken today of the sole plant, Chamaedorea  sp. 'Monteflor'.   Your thoughts, please, about the true ID, thanks !
