Sadly, My Kentiopsis magnifica is kinda buried back in between some bigger palms although 8-10' away from a Jubea seemed so far when I planted it!!

I knew a leaf was due to open, but you kinda have to look for it.. :(

So, about a week ago I spied this looking thru the leaves..

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

Once I traipsed back there I pulled backed some leaves after our recent rains and saw this!

Definitely NOT like a king palm as some have said in the past!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

Bill, you can cut off some lower leaves on the Jubaea.

I rarely get to see the crownshaft on this species and its actually pretty special! This palm is getting pretty stretched now, but the leaf top is reaching the top of the canopy... :)

Yes the leaf Color is really nice and crownshaft is way more interesting than oliviformis.

Thanks Peeps. I really love the look of this palm and as long I can keep the gophers at bay, hopefully it is here to stay.. :D

Steve, I think bright light is okay in Santee, but the low humidity would wreak havoc. I would suspect out there the only thing it could handle is an hour or two of morning sun..
