Whitewash for greenhouse?

DoomsDave

Recommended Posts

I need to whitewash my greenhouse, because I want to use it to sprout seeds, and I'm afraid little plants will burn.

What would you-all use? White paint blacks it out.

Suggestions?

Dave, You can buy a spray on liquid shade compound. I use this on my big greenhouse. Conley greenhouse and manufacturing sells it in 5 gal buckets. I also think american horticultural supply also sells it?

Clear plastic straight over the top of shade cloth will make your greenhouse become a hothouse. Sorry, never heard of a hothouse being called a whitehouse, is it a hothouse with "white plastic" ??

I've used primer diluted with water. It's messy. Why not look on CL or ebay for used scraps of shade cloth. They have lots of large leftover pieces from huge commercial projects.

Great idea!

Glad I thought of it.

I happen to have a scrap of my own.

Matt could be onto something big. That' the mess free way to do your project!! Liquid shade is generally used for 5,000 + sqft and up size greenhouses. Dave be sure to use 40% shade cloth so you don't rob your plants of to much sun light. poly plastic or bpolyarbonate usually have around 95% light transmit.
