Just checking out the wundermap, looks like some 40's pushing pretty deep into Florida, that's pretty cold for afternoon temps down there.

It is much cooler than usual. Right now I am settled at about 50F; I don't expect the temperature to get much lower however.

We are at 50F right now in Cape Coral, headed for 46F, so not going down too much, but there are wind chill advisories further up on the Gulf coast of Florida, starting from Venice/North Port northward.

Is that the talk of the town down there? Are these record lows being broken for November? I just cant believe it is that cold that south, this early in the year!!

Not a record for here in Cape Coral but it is darn cold for this time of year! North Florida is a different story record wise.

The average temp for Cape Coral this time of year is 81F for a high and 62F for a low.

That 46 in Cape Coral is pretty brutal then for this time of year, hope nobody is crazy enough to be trying Cyrtostachys.

Actually right around the end of Oct beginning of Nov there was a real cold snap down there, I think I saw a 41 in Cocoa. I had just left there a few days prior and my wife and kids were leaving right as the cold was moving in.

Hit a low here of 47.3 overnight. Pretty close to the predicted 48. It was 51.1 at 11 pm. Just a few minutes ago temp had soared to 52.3. No sun and north winds make the great outdoors a mite uncomfortable. The two Areca macrocalyx came in yesterday.

Saw some teens (18) way up in top of the Florida panhandle this morning, that's ridiculous, almost as cold as it was here this morning, I was at 16 degrees.

  • 5 weeks later...

Winter is almost officially here. We gotta make it through January, the month when the harshest freezes can happen. They can occur later but January's cold fronts always seem the most severe.

So far no sign of winter here, no significant snow, and temps have been pretty mild relatively speaking for the region except for some teens we had a month ago, forecast looks mild too as long as it goes out. We'll see how long it lasts, I'm sure temps will crash in January.

No sign of winter except for some teens - I'd be crying for a long time about teens in my garden. Replacing and nurturing back from the nearly dead for a very long time.

Yes, that's why I added the "relatively speaking for the region" part. Other than those few days in the teens it hasn't been too bad. It's been in the upper 20's at night recently which is pretty nice although that would be a disaster in south Florida
