Dypsis andapae

Bencassa

Rps offered these a few months back now.

Anyone else get any of them?

From what I can tell the seeds of whatever species these are, are nothing like the species info I can find online for D. andapae.

I wish I got some! Never saw the rps offer of those....good spotting mate!

Best of luck to you on those Ben... I'm am guessing they should be quite small and round seeds?? It could be another great palm to add to your collection.... Hope so!

Thats the thing, they're a long, horn shaped seed similar in appearance to Licuala mapu.

They were only offered for a few days at best, cos when I went back to have another look at the pic and info, Rps had taken the page down. They dont even have it listed on their archive so it's tough to get any info on just what has been offered. And I'm not aware of a dypsis with long horn shaped seed. Could be something awesome!

Started germinating at any rate ☺

I'd say they will mate.

The info on palmpedia rings mostly true in that D. andapae is a small understory palm to 1.2m with entire, bifid leaves most similar to D. coriacea which seemingly has a similar seed shape.

Yet the pics show a large palm most closely resembling D. Madagascariensis.

Maybe something Ed can look into...
