End of the summer night garden pics

I love my garden at night! I've tried many times to photograph it but the pics always turn out a bit dark with muted colors. Last night I got it wired and shot what I think are some pretty cool pics. I have a spot on a long cord so I carried around with me and used it to illuminate my shots. It seems like a really great way to capture the essence of the plants, their deep green shiny leaves outlined in black make excellent contrast and really makes the palms stand out in great detail that is often washed out in the sun. I also like designing the garden at night, you get a different perspective on shapes and textures in the garden that you might overlook during the day. I have red green blue LEDs mixed in with regular LEDs so parts of the garden slowly cycle through different colors. My iPhone sees things a bit differently than I do and picks up a lot of color, it doesn't actually look like the photos , they are far more saturated with color than what your eye actually sees. These are as I shot them, no photoshopping or anything so here we go! I'm going to post quite a few pics, hope you all enjoy!

Thanks Steve ! I thought they turned out pretty cool, I really like this one in particular. It looks like crazy blue alien spikes on the Crinum lily. The spikes are a Bailey palm :)

I see everything pretty small as all I have is an iPhone after my laptop went haywire

Rob,

Night photography can be pretty spectacular, and you've got some real great shots here! :) And what I really like is to go outside at night right after a heavy shower, when the raindrops are still on the fronds! :)

Thanks. Bo!

I do the same thing during the day with the garden, if company is coming I clean it up and spray it down to darken up the mulch and soil for better contrast. It looks richer. I do the same for photos sometimes but now I have to try it at night with my new technique lol

I know that shade of blue doesn't exist in nature, but I sure wish it did. :) Love the color shots, wow! All you need is one of those fancy drinks with an umbrella and a bunch of fruit in it to complete the scene. Print those photos on black velvet, you'll make a fortune.

Thanks Tim that's funny! I also shoot lasers at the garden, fire bowls by the pool, the pool changes colors too, and a fire canon that blows big 15 foot balls of fire up into the air. The canon is mostly reserved for parties and gets all the dogs in the neighborhood barking. there's also fairly regular fireworks at parties.

Strangely enough my neighbors all like me and don't mind lol

D. Cabadae with lasers :)

Tim now you went and encouraged me so I went out to the garden with the laser and took some shots, I should have used Bo's idea and wet down the garden first :)

The woods, looks like a million twinkling stars

Thanks guys :)

Tim you're an excellent judge of character, I've never quite been like the other kids lol. It was certainly a pleasure to meet the man behind all of those amazing palm pics that you post. I would love to see your place some day, it must be spectacular :)

Kenny I'm definitely enjoying myself, it's one thing that I've had a ton of practice doing. Life is good :)

Peace love and palm tees .)

A professional photographer gave me a tip once about "night" photography. She said one trick is to take pics just at dusk, before it is actually dark, as the camera does not pick up as much light as the human eye. Although I have to say your light show turned out amazing.
