I have this Hedyscepe in the front parkway of my house I want to remove. It has been in the ground for several years. A very easy dig. Palm is planted in full sun. Asking a 100. Thanks for looking. Ron 949 235 6187

Does this guy ever get sunburn... Kentias burn at my place in summer. And since they are both from LHI?

Recently received a 4th leaf seedling Hedy from a very generous PalmTalk'er.

I'm curious how old the specimen is in the picture? I have read so many opinions on growth rate, I have no idea how long I'll get to keep this one potted up before it outgrows my ceilings!

That's a good question.

I've found them slow for me here, even in their preferred shady environment (at least away from the beach). I'll bet you'll have your little baby for 20 years before size gets to be a problem.

Of course, if I'm wrong and it grows faster, there's always your local palmerium . . . . :)

My 5 gal, still in the pot, got a decent enough sunburn this summer with only an hour or two in midday sun. It probably came from full shade though and will take some time to acclimate.

i have 3, 2 of them in pots and one planted. the bigger one is about 3.5" across at the base and 3 fronds this past year it's been in the ground. mine's in mostly shade with some scattered sun or direct sun in the morning to early afternoon. because it's planted in mostly shade i've pretty much learned to ignore this one and just gets watered on the drip schedule
