I got this, not too long agao at the last International Orchid Festival, at the Fruit and Spice park. I forget the name and the person I got it from, but it has gone crazy since I got it--tons of purple blooms, sorry for not taking any shots of that... just wanted to know if anyone else had ever seen one or was growing it or knew anything about it--thanks! It is mounted on an Archontophoeinx maxima.

Hi:

Dendrobium dichaeoides from PNG. Intermediate cloud forest origin. I have a few. Easy to grow (mounted) with lots of water and cool nights.

Andy's Orchids carry both this and its rather suspectly differentiate sib, D. limpidum.

I just read up on max temps for this being in the high 70's. I got mine early this spring and it proceeded to flower profusely. It has since stopped, but still looks in good condition--should I be worried about this orchid, longterm?

Mine have seen mid 90s (F) with fair regularity but our nights and pre dawn cool substantially into the high 50s/low 60s like clockwork. Like many cloud forest plants, it is the regular day-night temperature differential, coupled with good water in large quantities, that is more important than the average temps per se.
