Azores, Portugal

Recommended Posts

A week ago i was displaced due to my job. Gonna have to be in Azores at least 1 year, but off course will return periodically home to be with my kids and family.

My three gardens had to be left on their own, with frequent irrigation. I am worried about all the potted stuff.

Here in Azores i will work in Terceira island, city of Angra do Heroísmo. The island is big, has much to explore, including some nice and big gardens.

I intent to visit all, but also other islands, specially S. Miguel, where i was told to have some incredible palms.

A previous note to describe the weather here, as far as i have been told: temps never drop below 8/9ºC or above 27ºC. Usually cloud covered and LOTS of rainfall all over the year...

Perfect to grow so many many palms....

So far, a couple of pics.

Later i will update the thread :)

Rafael,

The Azores, wow! That must be quite a change, but I understand the islands are beautiful. I have never been there but my sister & her husband flew there (from Sweden) for vacation a couple of years ago and they really enjoyed it. Of course, a week is a bit different from a whole year... :bemused: In any case, I hope everything works out for the best and that you're able to enjoy your time there! :) Looking forward to more photos, and not just of palms!

Aloha from one island to another...

Look forward to future photos from you in the Azores. BTW, missed seeing you in Miami.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!
