Yatay Mule gets more striking in spite or hard winter

I was working in the yard today and looked across to this palm. In spite of a really bad winter and not so great of a picture, it continues to be a showpiece.

Beautiful.. Very graceful from a distance. What are the dimensions? Did it experience any damage and how many fronds did it grow so far?

Keith - I just got a Yatay Mule off of Patric today. I am super excited and hope it turns out looking as lush as yours, though in our super dry climate it might not. BTW, did you discuss your Yatay with Patric when we were at Dick's? We were talking about it today, and Patric says he sold your Yatay to the dude in Houston or whatever that you got it from. So, he says Dick's Yatay is your mother plant. Just thought I'd see if you knew about the provenance.

Awesome looking plant, just stunning. I had to have one after seeing the photos of yours.

Fantastic that I now know the history of my palm, and the fact that Dick's yatay was the parent is kind of serendipitous. I only wish I had known I was looking at its mother when I visited Dick's garden. You could have snapped a picture of me kissing it, because I would have.

I am glad I mentioned it then. Patric also mentioned that the chap that you got it from moved back from Oregon to Texas I think, and has been getting some new hybrids from him. Anyway, like I said I am hoping mine turns out like yours, and I am happy to know that it is from the same mother.

Yes, that's an elegant-looking palm. Seems to be swaying, or half-turning, maybe one finger tugging coyly on the hem of her dress.

Keith, that's a great looking mule..... the Yatay 'boldness' is pronounced nicely in the character of the palm. How cold did your temps get this past winter???? My 'regular' mule (similar in size) took the14Fwe had this winter with minimal damage (40% frond burn). cheers !
