Loxococcus land for sale

doranakandawatta

Recommended Posts

Remote 100 years old house on a property with jungle, mangusteen, cocoa, rambutan, jack and Loxococcus is for sale.

I think we'll buy it so we can protect the wild growing Loxococcus and enjoy the view.

It could be a " Palmtalk guesthouse", since it's nearby wild habitats for Oncosperma fasciculatum, Calamus Loxococcus and other Caryota...

Will you come?

You eat them? How do they taste? Thanks much for the welcome, Philippe! I always enjoy your posts.

What an enchanting place! Are you seriously planning to buy? Or just wishing? How large is the plot of land?

Those views are amazing, looking up toward the bluff, wow!

I agree, what a beautiful place! Why can't we have a place like that in the States?

Philippe, I have a question. Can foreigners own a property in Sri Lanka? I know there are some countries where they can't (Thailand). If the answer is yes, I wonder how much does the one acre of land costs. :)

Regards,

Milos

Andrew,

No, we don't eat them but I would be happy to collect the fruits and sow them in a new Loxococcus nursery… and plant the palms somewhere in the countryside….

Kim,

Yes, I seriously think of buying this land if I get informed that the owner would like to demolish this house….
As you noticed , the place is located in a very beautiful and virgin landscape.
I would like to wake up there one morning and have my early morning tea sitting in the veranda, just watching trees, palms, birds, mountains and clouds.

Only thing; did you notice the steps we have to climb before reaching the house? (ceylonese traditional steps, like in the budhist temples….)

Milos,

It's a little complicated for foreigners to buy a property and the law may change with the government changing (if it does…)
Besides I don't like feeling being an owner in Sri Lanka; I only have friends there (humans and elephants).

I don't know exactly how it works in Thailand but there are many europeans (Palmtalk members too) living there and having nice gardens.

Pete,

Actually I love these old buildings and so many disappear in the country (question of culture, heritage of the past doesn't interest srilankans) that I would prefer to restore it than re-building a new house.

But it would be great to get Palmtalker's visits as it could be already now in Doranakanda gardens. :)

I am not sure but we can arrange that and bring some cobras from our village. (maybe i't ll be too cold in the mountains?)

Otherwise, we have there plenty of leeches , near the stream, where Loxococcus and Caryota grow.

You'll be welcome.

(evening will be arrack and soda, watching sunset.)

NOT FOR SALE ANYMORE :)

We got it and we'll start a Loxcoccus grove and nursery…..

And this verandah is facing west and has a panoramic view on the hills, we'll enjoy the sunset drinks there :)
There is 1 acre jungle, a stream and no neighbors.

The previous owners will stay in the house and make tea when we come and visit.

They want to build a modern house somewhere else below this old house (I'll try to avoid they put the building in the middle of the view).

Then it'll be a wonderful starting point for botanic expedition for those who want to see that landscape from close:

(very peaceful place, no traffic noise)
