Hello!

I have recently moved from Miami, FL to the Caribbean island of Grenada for medical school. I notice that I've slowly been descending to the equator, starting in Seattle, WA then Gainesville, FL, followed by Miami, FL and now L'ans aux epines, Grenada. I had a great three years in Miami and will definitely miss it a lot. I can thankfully say that I never took a single coconut palm I saw there for granted. :yay::yay::yay: I ever perfected the art of climbing coconut palms and breaking open coconuts on sharp edges of pavement! :D In the immediate part of Grenada I am in right now, there aren't too many exciting plants. I'm not sure if this area's coconut palms were decimated by lethal yellowing, but there are very few of them. I haven't seen any Thrinax, Coccothrinax, Sabal, or Acoelorraphe here either, surprisingly!

Here is a view of the general Grenadian countryside.

Here is a volcanic crater lake on the island, called Grande Etang. It's lined with Prestoea acuminata, I believe, but please enlighten me if I'm mistaken!

Here is a forest of predominantly Prestoea acuminata - I think? There were also some Euterpe sp. I saw along the drive to this area, but I did not see any on the immediate hike. I'll have to go back when time allows!

Why does medical school take you away from the US? Looks lush over there--crazy that there are not more palms...

Great shots, Kyle. If you weren't in medical school, I would have thought photography! I hope you eventually see lots more palms!

Good Luck in school Kyle & definitely look up John Criswick.

Hey Jeff, I assume my "John Criswick" croton came from John Criswick.
