The 22nd Annual Aloha Races and Polynesian Festival is right around the corner. Upwelling shut down about two months ago thanks to the tropical monsoon flows out of Mexico. With record warm water temperatures (70's on the East side beaches) it's going to be a blast this year.

Three Hawaiian princes were among the first to ride the waves in California off Santa Cruz’s coast two centuries ago, using redwood planks as surfboards. Celebrate Santa Cruz' lasting ties to Hawaii with the Aloha canoe races, perfect for beginners, and enjoy dancing, shaved ice and more at the Polynesian Festival. Santa Cruz has a vibrant Hawaiian community, come and see what they have to offer!
