2014 Miami Biennial - Highlands Hammock State Park

In keeping with my recent penchant for posting biennial photos represenative of the locations and themes, here are selections of photos I took from Day 2 of the biennial at the Highlands Hammock State Park. It took a while to get there but it was well worth it, I loved the walk and seeing three separate palm species in habitat, namely Rhapidophyllum hystrix, Sabal minor, and Sabal palmetto was fantastic. I'm also a huge fan of Tillandsias from the bromeliade family and seeing many of these adhered to the vegetation was a real buzz.

I implore others to add to these threads I have begun, I remember before I went on a biennial (two now), I used to love reading about the previous biennials (pre 2012) and seeing everyone's take on the palms and the people. I know a lot of great cameras were used in Miami, so let's see what you got, just one of your photos might be enough to encourage people to join the IPS, it was for me. Enough of my ramblings, let's go to the pics.

Turning in a 90 degree arc I captured hundreds of palms, different species in there too.

Time for collection, have a look at the palms along the roadsides, what a beautiful park. Thanks, that's mine.

This portion of the Biennial I had prior commitments, but would of loved to had been with the group. And like you, I really enjoy seeing palms in their natural habitat. Thanks for the pictures.

I'm loving everyone's Biennial pics! Keep them coming. I've read every Biennial thread since Costa Rica. One of these days I'm going to make one!

Thanks!
