Your picture of the Hemithrinax ekmanii tribe looks like a family of werewolves from London. Look closely and you can see the eyes as they advance. Andrew showed me another rarity that I completely missed not far from that site at MBC. Great to see some pictures posted. Thank you

This is the same Hyphaene petersiana shown on the bottom left page 142 of the new Encyclopedia of Cultivated Palms, with the caption "Private garden, Florida Keys" It's grown! I went to the book for info on this one & there it was.

So many photos, so many palms :)

What's the ID on the first palm in this post? It looks like Attalea crassispatha but I want to be sure.

Bo, It was also a pleasure meeting you & all the other palm fanatics also.

Yes Keith, That's Attalea crassispatha. I've never seen one in any private gardens & they are not quite as large as most other Attaleas. They did catch our attention though.

Anyone can add photos to this thread. Also take notice the size of the Ravenea xerophila :mrlooney: (1st photo in 2nd post)

Thanks for the positive ID! They're much taller than when I went 4 years ago, I didn't expect that they would have grown that fast! I hope that seeds eventually become available, as it's a lovely species.

Randy,

It was great to meet you during the Biennial! :) And thanks for the excellent pictures above. Those three gardens on our way back to Miami from Key West were all really spectacular, each of in its own way. Here are a few of my pix. :) These are from the first garden we visited.
