Ceratozamia tamazuchele

Recommended Posts

Have a plant labeled as Ceratozamia tamanechele and I assume that I have what is being called C. tamazuchele. Any folks familiar with this plant? I was told that it is more hardy than C. robusta. I was looking for a place to plant it and was wondering how big does this plant get? Was thinking of planing it under a live oak with "bright" shade. Any info would be great. Thanks

Robus only takes about 25f well. The plant from Tamazunchale is as cold hardy as latifolia and the other more cold hardy cerats. There are two plants in cultivation from the same place but the typical one will get as wide as 20 feet. Over time, they don't get very tall but do get wide with learned that can be as long as 9 feet. The longest leaves on my plants are 6 get so far. Tom

Thanks Tom,

I got in touch with the fellow I picked it up from and he confirmed what you posted. The one that I have is supposed to be the larger one. Its good to know as I was thinking of planting it in a spot that it would eventually outgrow.

Do you know how much sun these can handle?

Thanks for your help

Pretty much if a cerat. has brown emergent leaves, it always looks better on some shade. In sun, the leaves wash out in color. They will grow just fine in more soon, bit they will not look like they can look. Tom
