April stock talk

What is your expectation for Ford over the next year or so? Currently at $16.34.

Its 5 year high was around $18.50.

I've kinda waffled about getting back in.

http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=F+Interactive#symbol=F;range=my

I guess thats a good question but I don't have an answer. I buy stuff when I think it's cheap and worry about getting out later, never really look for an exit when I get in. I think Ford is a good long term play, I like a lot of their products and where they are going, the stock was cheap with a decent div so I bought in a personal account, meaning this is an investment and not a trade. I plan on holding it for a year or more if things go decent.

I did a sprint trade not to long ago, did pretty good but presently out. Market in general seems like it's ripe for a pounding but it just doesn't happen. As i have heard others call this the most hated bull market. My trading account (ira) is pretty light right now.

I agree on the pounding. Trying to wait out some of these dips and try and decide if I should hope that I can zero out on some of my current losers or cut bait and move on.

Only asked about F because I've been thinking about getting back in as well but haven't been able to come up with a good reason, although I would expect it to go up over the next year or two, but the question is how much and if there are better opportunities.

Does seem like a safer bet though.

CUR has been a steady gainer of late as well. BIB, not so much.

IBB was one of the ones I dumped during my house cleaning. I have a very low risk portfolio presently. F was a good buy at the time, but that was 11% ago, a nice move for a low vol stock.

I'm guessing it still has some dropping to do, maybe below $50. I would probably hold out for awhile as this one could see $40. I hope it reverses, as I have some skin in it right now, but good news seems to be in short supply right now.

DDD up today, but so is the market. May just be a head fake.

CUR has been doing great. Hopefully it won't pull a PRAN.

BIB is responding well to today's upward bump, up over 7%, hopefully it will see $105 again .....

I havent checked in on any of stock game for a bit and WHAM! PRAN and some others got whacked!

Wide swings like this are great fun in these games (as there is nothing to lose), but it does reinforce my natural tendency with the stock market to not pick stocks if I want to remain solvent!

and one other thing missing - a "Deanism"

i expect the possibility of a correction at some time in the indeterminate future of a unknown magnitude and duration - this will be followed by a resumption of the trend which possibly could continue at some point in the future. all the while i continue to reap dividends and await future buying possibilities .if these don't come to fruition then i will continue to decrease exposure while alternatively leveraging the investment account while subsequently increasing the speculative account

Benjamin Graham said something to the effect that "the stock market in the short term is a voting machine, but in the long term it is a weighing machine."

Let's not pretend like we are all doing anything other than guessing or "voting". The only thing that matters is that the economy keeps growing and long term it will.

DDD appears to have woken up.

Or not. My stuff has improved dramatically since a couple of weeks ago but its still be difficult to keep any momentum. A crappy ER from APPLE will only slow things down even more. Hopefully some decent ERs will keep the momentum up.

Apple was quite a surprise for everyone I think, not so much in the results which where good but in all the other window dressing to keep the stock pumped up until they at some point in life do something new and exciting. I don't own any directly at the present time, only through funds and tqqq.

I really would be more shocked if they didn't innovate. While the past couple years have been a bit boring in comparison to their history and competitors, its hard to imagine that one of the largest and historically forward thinking companies in the world isn't even making an attempt to match or pass their competitors. Granted, whatever comes out may be a flop, I would expect them to at least try.

Google/Samsung has definitely had the edge recently but they may be taking a chance on some of their new stuff. Jury's still out if some of the wearable tech is really going to catch on. Will a significant portion of the population want to wear google glasses? Everyone I know seems to have a negative view of these things, most stating that they really don't want to be distracted by constant information flow. I saw a great comment on these, "parachute pants for your face". While I do think folks potentially will get into some of the watch/wristbandish tech. I can see a great utility in the realm of monitoring your health, some of which is available now.

7-1 split is interesting and completely unexpected, bringing the stock below $100 a share. I have been holding a large position in apple and its nice to see it moving in the right direction.

I don't know about that game. I question the numbers at times. The final results are certainly incorrect.

Seems to be the general consensus that DDD will bounce back very soon and that now is a good time to pick it up. Too bad I'm sitting a long way from my price point right now  . Funny how even good news is bad.

Smaller margins got the puking started, also others entering the field like HP but still I like it at 1/2 price. I like to buy while others are puking.

Jason,

Hows it going? Sounds like we have some momentum traders here.

Guys, try and check these out....

VAPE ARWR ADMS.

Why buy DDD? A lot of institutions are selling that stock.

Sprint is not so strong. Other companies have better

financial positions in the telecom sector... USM SHEN USMO TMUS SBAC.

The pharmaceutical and energy sectors look really promising at the moment.

If not the individual stock, try buying the ETFs.

They are a bit less risky than the individual company stocks

since they are sector based and not as slow/lethargic as mutual funds.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers... :)
