Looking for seeds or seedlings in South FL

I live in WPB where I would think it would be easy to find palm seeds and or seedlings for sale but I am having the hardest time. There is a great place called Caribbean Palms Nursery in Loxahatchee, a block from me, but he doesnt sell seeds. He has smaller palms but not of everything he sells. Can someone help me find a commercial or private place where I can buy seeds or seedlings

Try Ebay...there's tons of seeds for sale...usually insanely cheap...I also bought a couple of W. robusta seedlings...you can find just about any palm on there...Good luck!

Try rarepalmseeds.com

I have heard nothing but very bad things about this company concerning their customer service and shipping. I would rather order from a US based company

It might help if you tell us what seedlings you are looking for.

I would like to plant some King(regular and Purple) and Carpentaria but also have a few others in mind.

I have not done business with rarepalmseeds because of a complete lack of customer service, and also from their reputation.

Ebay is definitely the way to go - super cheap.

I don't have seedlings of those you listed yet, but have seedlings of other types such as various Sabals, some Butias, Syagrus, Dypsis, Hyophorbe, Veitchias, and so on. (Some are on Ebay too, actually.)

Good luck!

Try your local chapter palm society (South Florida Palm Society) and go to a meeting. You'll get access to all kinds of seeds and plants that you won't find at box stores. Not to mention making awesome palm friends. :)

BEST ANSWER!!! Or sort of because your local chapter is Palm Beach Palm and Cycad Society, http://www.palmbeachpalmcycadsociety.com/ . You could probably hitch a ride with Mike Harris at Caribbean to their meetings. Plus, the PBPCS is having a sale soon http://www.palmbeachpalmcycadsociety.com/events.html Sat and Sun April 12 and 13.

This is where you make all your contacts.

Redlands nursery down by homestead has a great selection of smaller stuff and seedlings, no seeds that I'm aware of though. You can also do what I do and keep an eye out for the palms you're interested in in public spaces and collect and clean the seeds yourself :) I just collected a few hundred Ptychospermum Lineare seeds and maybe 75 fox tails from the median in the middle of the road on the way to the Fort a Myers airport for example. They're all cleaned up if you would like a few at no charge you're more than welcome to them :)

Dude there are so many places around you but most are wholesale. Check out plantfinder.com for seeds or liners (seedlings) and availability in your area. They may sale you some retail or know where you can purchase them.

Often the rare palms the Mike sells are no longer available as seeds.

You see that Hemithirinax...its 10 years from seed yet only 6 inches tall...and no more true seed has been available. So if you want a Hemi...youll pay the $125..

i prefer to buy past the seedling stage...we have a much higher survival rate...shipping is greater but at least you have fewer dead palms
