I've grown a few C. utan from seed.  Germinated in June, and approaching leaf number 3.

I've decided to look for an umbraculifera..

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Just to clarify Matty, that super vicious animal is a "Bernese" aka Berner Sennenhund, named after the city they are from Bern, Switzerland.  They are almost as vicious as the Appenzeller Sennenhund that came after Bill (BS Man) when he paid an unannounced visit to my house when we weren't there.  Fortunately, Bill waited patiently out front until I got home.  So beware when doing an unannounced PRA.

I thought I was posting this along with BS Man's updated photo, when I clarified the name of that vicious beast... not from Burma, but more tropical environs like Bern Switzerland.
