Ficus aurea - Seedlings or Maybe Seeds.

Recommended Posts

Hi folks!

I am looking for seedlings or perhaps seeds of Ficus aurea. I understand that this tree is pretty common in Florida in some places.

I have a few interesting things here that I can offer in trade.

Thanks for reading!

Hey there Hydrophyte

I know where there are a few trees.

I will stop and see if there look to be any viable ones around.

How many are you looking to acquire?

Mike

I had been looking for this plant for years as I have found none whatsoever for sale. I finally snatched one from a crack in the top of a parking garage in South Beach last year and it is doing great. I am going to do a bonsai. I may be going down there next week and if I do, I will look for a seedling (or seeds) for you. They are everywhere in South FL if you know what to look for.

I'm still looking! I PMd a couple of people, but haven't heard back from them. I'd love to get a hold of a couple of F. aurea seedlings.

If anybody is still interested in this species send me a pm. I can have you a rooted cutting in short order from the specimen I collected from the South Miami Beach parking garage in 2012. I also found a 6 foot potted specimen tucked away at a local nursery that I intend to purchase next time I go back and I actually have room in the car! The owner didn't really even know it is Ficus aurea.
