Cyrtostachys renda seeds - best way to germinate??

I just received 50 fresh Cyrtostachys renda seeds and have read conflicting experiences online about the best way to get them to germinate.

Who's had good/bad experiences? These seed are a lot smaller than the palms I started previously.  I apologize if this has been covered before, I attempted a search in the forums but came up empty.

Thanks!

If they're fresh you're off for a good start. Use moist vermiculite in a covered tupperware container and store in a very warm place. Do not let these experience any cool weather by any means! In about a few weeks a white/yellowish button will suddenly "pop" at the flat extreme of the seed and growth goes up and down from there. Then be patient - expect 1 leaf per YEAR.

I had both bad and good experience with those. The first (the bad) was very frustrating and discouraging. I received about a dozen from an ebay seller and these were anything but fresh. They did "germinate" a white/grayish goo that I mistook for a viable button.

The second batch was from RPS. It was very fresh and had more than 90% germination. Today, after more than a year, I have 3 beautiful 3-leaf seedlings. The rest died one by one, suddenly without explanation (except one that I tried in my A/C indoors at work).

Good luck and keep us posted of your progress!
