I have just acquired one of these plants. Apparently it is now old fashioned and was once wildly grown in this area. Does anyone know much about its culture?

Quisqualis has recently been lumped into Combretum.

Quisqualis falcata var. mussaendiflora is now Combretum mussaendiflorum

.

The common Rangoon Creeper, Quisqualis indica, is now Combretum indicum.
