I was looking through all the wonderful posts in memory of Bob. He must really be content now knowing that his legacy is such a positive one.

Death is one aspect of the human experience that confounds us, yet we will all personally understand this "portal" first hand, as it occurs. The light will be more beautiful than anything we can imagine, as mortals.

The passing of a loved one reminds us of how short is everyone's "timeline" is, but it is only a continuum of the spirits' journey.

Revel in your incomparable & unfettered voyage, Bob. We will hope to chat with you about your beloved palms..when the time for each of us is appropriate.

Until then, let us use our passion for palms, to make this mortal world still greener and more appreciated by our contemporaries, and by those who will follow us, and who will also love seeing their palms flourish, beyond our own limited mortal lifespans!

In your memory, Bob!

Paul

The Enterolobium tree Bob gave me is still growing strong. However, one day soon it's going to come into conflict with my clump of Bambusa oldhami!

Current photo of ear tree that Bob Riffle gave me. I sure miss the palm and tropical plant advice I got from Bob.

Last summer the Enterolobium contortisiliquum (ear tree) Bob Riffle gave me as a seedling in June of 2003, produced it's first seed pods. I sowed some seeds just to see if they would germinate, and most did. I was reading my copy of Bob's book, The Tropical Look, the other night and was thinking just what a monumental achievement that was, to put so much information like that together. I still miss not having Bob around this forum to ask questions and share knowledge with, etc.

Another year had ticked off the clock since I last posted to this thread. The seedlings I posted photos of are now 7 feet high and planted in the ground. The Enterobolium contortisiliquum Bob gave me continues to grow well.

I still think of Bob...I pick up his books all the time.

Reckon he's out there somewhere in a group of three, of varying heights. Looking good. xxx
