Bobby, they will turn very dark, even black then start dropping. Then they are ready for you to have hundreds of these.

Most palm seed will eventually turn a color when they ripen. These will turn black in color.

Hey Bobby.  Nice lot of seeds.  Here in CA they just drop and start growing at the base of the trees.  I think they're relatively easy to germinate but take several months to do so.  You'd want to put them in pots and protect for winter.

Yeah, that whole tree will be covered in a heated polytent (greenhouse) anyway so that's not a problem.... When these turn ripe, I will have a ton of seed.... If anyone wants any, let me know..

Dear bobby  :)

those seeds in our picture are not ripe and only riped seeds tend to fall in the ground.they may be ripe golden color, orange

& even blakesh in color.i always collect seeds only that

had fallen in the ground.dry then for few days in sun.

and peel out any fleshy matter from those seeds.

either sow it for germination or store it in paper bags

smeared with mild fungicide or ant repplent powder.

Love,

Kris.

Bobby,

Do a test for us. Leave your seedlings outside this winter and let us know what temp. finally kills them. :D

I 'm curious to know ,how cold hardy these are.

That's a great idea Jeff... but I'm not sure I understand... You want me to sprout a couple and leave them out or just leave the seeds out.  I've been testing cold-hardiness on some of my stuff over the past couple years.. for example, I left 2 King Sagos & a Washie outside last year and the only thing that happened was one of the sagos yellowed up a little, but a new set has grown since then.
