Northern California Palm enthusiasts,

Save the date, March 24, 1-5 pm, for our annual NCPS banquet. We are looking forward to an afternoon of food and conversation as well as a tour of the UC Berkeley botanical gardens led by UC horticultural staff member Dylan Ferreira. The UC Berkeley garden is a treasure trove of rare palms that include the genera Ceroxylon, Brahea, Ravenea and Parajubaea as well as many others.

Annual Lunch – Saturday, March 24, 2012

Berkeley from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 24th.

This year we are holding our annual lunch in the Botanical Garden at UC Berkeley. We pleased to have Dylan Ferreira, from UC Berkeley Botanical Garden, join us for lunch. Dylan will lead a palm viewing. His areas of expertise are in aquatic and Australian flora. There is a $7 parking fee.

Lunch Buffet: ( You can go back for seconds!)

There is a lunch buffet with a full selection of delicious dishes from the Bancroft Catering Services served with iced tea, lemonade, tea and coffee.

NEW: Bring Your Own Beer or Wine! To save additional costs, we are able to serve your own beer or wine if you’d like drinks with your lunch.

Selections from the buffet lunch menu:

Appetizers:

Grilled Asparagus Salad - Mixed greens tossed with grilled asparagus, goat cheese, sweet onions, croutons and a light sherry vinaigrette.

Seasonal Fresh Fruit Salad

Entrees:

Grilled Pineapple Chicken - Grilled chicken breast topped with a salsa of grilled pineapple, mango, red bell pepper, oregano, and other herbs.

Seasonal Fish with Cucumber Salsa - Petite fillets of seasonal fish sautéed with herbs and topped with a marinated salsa of cucumber, basil, meyer lemon, and anaheim chilies.

Side Dishes:

Black Currant Rice Salad - Rice salad with roasted pine nuts and black currants.

Pesto Ravioli Salad - Egg pasta stuffed with mozzarella cheese tossed with a creamy basil pesto and sun dried tomatoes.

Dessert Bars: A variety of chocolate and non-chocolate desserts

Lemonade & Iced Tea, Coffee and Tea will be served

BYOA (Bring Your Own Alcohol) Bring Beer and Wine: If you would like beer or wine with lunch, please bring your own. (Coolers and glasses will be provided.)

Lunch Tickets: Tickets are $35 per person.

Reservations: RSVP to reserve your spot now! It’s easy! RSVP By Wednesday, March 21 so we can give guarantees to the caterers.

After this incredible, warm Spring- the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens are already blooming in full swing and the palms are pushing new spears. Don't miss this great time to spend with the NCPS with some great food and great garden viewing.
