Flowering Agave sp for ID

3 posts in this topic

While we were at Cape Harbour today I saw this pretty little flowering agave. It is about 2 feet in diameter, light green with salmon pink highlights. I collected some bubils to root. Does anyone know what it could be? The photo was taken with a cell phone so doesn't do this plant justice.

Hard to tell. Kinda looks like A. desmettiana. Could also be A. neglecta which is native to south FL.

Did it have a spiny or more or less smooth (smooth includes tiny teeth) margins? Did you get a pic of the flowers?

I had a neglecta that I collected down your way. It looked very much like a A. weberi, up until we got a good freeze. The neglecta was defoliated and pretty much melted while the weberi showed no damage.

Could also be A. vilmoriniana, but its hard to tell at this stage in the flowering as the plant starts looking really beat up.
