Variegated Ficus Elastica - smaller than plain variety?

Hi

I rescued a dying Variegated Ficus Elastica which is now coming along really well (see pic below). I have seen some planted in the grown and the variegated forms do not seem to be as large as the plain ones. Can anyone else confirm this? I want to be sure before I put it in the ground.

Thanks in advance

Great plant! I have one as a house plant but when it gets large i'll plant it out. I've seen them as very large full size trees in ca and fl.
