Something kinda momentous happened today...

BS Man about Palms

Well, due to harassment of myself by a certain occasionally inebriated Palmtalk member, I did something with this today...

Any guesses?.. and "just" what I did does not count... why was it "kinda momentous?

Don't believe you

It was bound to happen... what with the choice of your impending theft, OR your "plant it now and if it dies or is eaten by gophers ever or something like that I will replace it free" offer what choice did I have....

But still not QUITE the momentous part I was going for...

OK, now we're talkin'! For the record, I did threaten to steal Bill's Ficus dammaropsis if it wasn't planted next time I was up by his house. Also, I vowed to replace it if it ever got eaten by gophers or died for whatever reason. Sometimes our friends just need a little encouragement. Now that I know Bill's "go button" I will be "encouraging" him more often. Let's see.........Hey Bill, ya know that Copernicia suerona that I want......

Yeah, Bill! I told him that if he doesn't plant that Ficus that it'll go into decline, which it already has, and soon die. I suggested that he just stick it in his backyard somewhere, let it grow and thrive, and when the time comes to pour his driveway, or do any major grade changes, he can propagate the ficus and move it to a different spot. There's no reason not to plant a plant and let it die, especially when that plant can be dug up and moved or propagated and moved later. I have spoken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :rage: Good job Bill!

Why is it momentous to plant something in the yard ?

Hell, just to be able to go INTO the backyard is momentous.

Ooh, ooh, I know, I know...you can actually see this year's new weeds.

This is the FIRST plant I have planted in the back yard since I moved here in 1994.... I have removed several plants, and sold a CIDP from my backyard about 10 years ago... but this was the first I planted in back. (rooted in pots don't count as I have very few back there that AREN'T!!! )

I kinda thought it would be a palm tree first...

Joe, congrats... a weed of your choice! :winkie:

Matty- Thanks for the patient prodding...

That pic is deceiving. The Ficus is really over 8' tall and Bill is standing next to it for scale, the problem is that the grass is taller than Bill.

Wait a minute. You are telling me you have planted one thing in your back yard in almost 20 years? You understand how crazy that sounds right?

Do you water it or has it tapped into your neighbors yard?

Same reason I haven't planted much in the backyard yet.. Still finishing construction and that was one of the few areas I thought I might not disturb and was away from the house... In reality, the same applied to the front yard... farthest away from construction.

oh, and it wouldn't block a view off my deck.. :)
